Foundation
After successfully passing his examination to become a professional ski instructor in 1961, Franz Mattig decided to found the official Swiss ski school and Mattig Sport in Bettmeralp - a milestone for tourism in Bettmeralp.

1970
Extension
The ski school and sports store project on Bettmeralp was a success. Franz was able to rebuild and extend the building in 1969/70.
1986
Ski rental extension
Tourism on Bettmeralp grows and grows: 1974 opening of the Bettmeralp large aerial cableway (125-person cabin), 1975 construction of a tennis court, 1976 construction of the gondola lift to the Bettmerhorn, 1979 opening of the Bettmerhorn mountain restaurant, 1981 construction of the first 3-seater chairlift in Switzerland (Schönboden), 1983 start of construction work on the "Bachtla" sports and fun center.
Skiing booms and renting instead of buying becomes a success story. Franz recognizes this trend and expands the ski workshop with a large rental area.
1993
Hotel La Cabane
Franz's heart beat for tourism on the Bettmeralp. He was a pioneer, a visionary. After 29 years as ski school director, he wanted to realize his vision: a 4-star hotel on Bettmeralp. In December 1992/93, the 4-star Hotel La Cabane was opened on Bettmeralp. Beautiful, spacious rooms in a cozy chalet style make vacations on Bettmeralp perfect. Over the past almost 30 years we have invested in our bijou every year and the hotel fills us with pride.
2012
50th anniversary
It was a wonderful celebration - we all proudly celebrated the 50th anniversary in December 2012.

We were able to celebrate our 50th anniversary together. Unfortunately, you had to leave us on March 1, 2013 after a short illness. We are infinitely sad.
In loving memory of my husband, our dad, grandpa, father-in-law & friend - we will do our best and continue your projects with great enthusiasm!
